Birth Comb

A reflexology comb is a tool that has been used for centuries to manage any kind of pain. Our birth comb is made from a single piece of sandalwood, it is smooth and durable. The comb’s moon shapes makes it ergonomic and comfortable to hold.

How does it work?

The Gate Control Theory of pain explains that the non-painful sensations can be used to override and prevent the painful sensation from travelling to the central nervous system. Your brain has a limit to how much pain it can experience at once, and your hand has so many acupressure points. When grasping a comb, your brain will “prioritise” the pain from the hand over the nerves in your back and thus dull the contraction pain.

The comb is a great distraction tool as well. You focus on squeezing and relaxing your hand to keep your mind off the birth pains.

How do I use it?

Place the comb in your hand teeth-side in the middle of your palm and squeeze!

After the birth you can continue to use the comb to help with recovery and breastfeeding pains. Or, you can use it as a normal hair comb that will remind you of your special birth day.
